Last Day to get FREE LIFETIME SHAKLEE MEMBERSHIP and more TESTIMONIES!

Have you been thinking about trying Shaklee?

Here is a great testimony from Taylor at TheUndomesticMomma.com

She is sooo sweet and gives her honest opinion with her experiences with her Get Clean products in a video.

She tells us how she cleans up after her husband makes eggs and bacon with grease all over and how she got rid of all her orange mold in her shower!!!

She also wrote…

I threw out ALL of this

and now I use these Shaklee products for everything!

please dont judge me for this. hubs had just had a bad frozen pizza incident!

now I can even see through the glass window on the oven!

love my sparkling white bathroom!

no more funky orange stuff going on in the shower anymore! wohoo!

The Simasek-Kibler Project also wrote a little bit about her experience.

Here is the stove top after - look how shiny!

And, i didn't stop there...I ran to my shower while i still had the urge.  Actually, i was bored. Election coverage, thus no good TV to distract me....but still...it took all the shower soap scum away.  SHINY.  And i used it on the surround and glass (on left)  - and all the hard water deposits came off. But i kept getting a hankering for cherry gum.

It felt so good to clean with something that wasn't harsh on your family, and yet still worked. That's been the main reason why i haven't caved to these organic, "safe" cleaners before.  They didn't work.
After my little cleaning frenzy, i went online and ordered the surface cleaner and the germ bacterial cleaner.  (i know, i'm on a roll here. Someone stop me before i start darning socks or something silly like that).

Thanks so MUCH ladies!!!!

I LOVE hearing testimonies!

Christmas Craft : How to make Paper Snowflakes.

Snowflakes are so pretty and its so easy to make paper snowflakes in different designs, using just a sheet of paper and scissors. The wonderful thing is no two snowflakes are ever alike and you can cut your paper in different designs and patterns each time too.

In this post I have got instructions from Martha Stewart, she has these really neat instruction for folding the basic shape, and a few pretty designs to get you started, and with a little practice you would be cutting and snipping away happily, waiting to unravel the design. Its really makes very pretty Christmas decoration and you will love making them.

Pretty Paper Snowflakes

Here are some really easy to follow steps by Martha. The basic shape is the same while the design you prune/cut will make snowflakes in different pattern and design.

For beginners these patterns are easy to make, just copy then and go about with your scissors. Involve your family and friends for a good time this holiday. Paper snowflakes are simple with these instructions to guide you.

Few more patterns for snowflakes for you to try. Use them and then try some of your own too.

A few simple patterns for kids to try. It really is a great family fun project for Christmas holiday !!

These post are Holiday special and I have one more coming up soon. Please be back for some more unique ideas and inspiration.

A WAVE OF SCIENCE—BUT WHERE'S ADA?

The seventh and latest installment in John Boswell's Symphony of Science. Great, as usual. Though surely he will manage to come up few more women thinkers next time? Twenty-first century, and all that.

(Ada Lovelace, first ever computer programmer.)

The entrenched refusal to acknowledge the many women, past and present, at the forefront of science led in 2009 to the declaration of March 24th as Ada Lovelace Day—an international day of blogging to celebrate the achievements of women in technology and science. Lovelace is today recognized as the world's first computer programmer. From Finding Ada:

Ada Lovelace was one of the world’s first computer programmers, and one of the first people to see computers as more than just a machine for doing sums. She wrote programmes for Charles Babbage’s Analytical Engine, a general-purpose computing machine, despite the fact that it was never built. She also wrote the very first description of a computer and of software.

From Rebecca Thomson at New Scientist's Culture Lab:

Today it's fairly well accepted that women are under-represented in both science and technology fields: for example just one in five of the UK's technology workforce are female.

But the negative nature of the debate, and the complaints raised within it, mean the considerable achievements of women who do work in the industry can slip under the radar. A recent piece by gadget magazine T3 neatly highlighted important contributions to the field made by women largely forgotten.
It included Mary Lou Jepsen, whose work on holographic video systems at the MIT Media Lab and in optics resulted in important developments in the fields.
One of her biggest achievements was her part in the One Laptop Per Child project, which delivered laptops to 1.5 million of the world's poorest children. She helped get the project off the ground by inventing display technology that is readable in sunlight, and working on the power system that made the laptops energy efficient.

Then there's this sadly enlightening piece in last week's The Observer: The Royal Society's Lost Women Scientists.

So how about a Wave of Ada segment to your next movement of the symphony, John Boswell?

Unique ways to decorate for Christmas on a budget !!

Hey everyone! I am really excited about Christmas, and everytime I see holiday decorations elegant and unique for my readers I bookmark them. Holiday decoration is so much fun, specially when you have so many ways to decorate. I have been looking for ideas that would work great in apartments as well as bigger spaces specially on a budget.

Check out my post on Unique Christmas trees , and Pine cone decoration projects which are absolutely in style and elegant.

I am amazed at the creativity ! Frosty colors, cutest little corner in the town. This Christmas tree is so unique and perfect for small spaces and apartment or dorms. Those looking for a really inspiring idea, this is just the one.

How much fun can a family have on holidays? How about a bucket of popcorn and strings of marshmallows and popcorn on the tree,as you catch your favourite Christmas movie. A perfect decoration project to get your children involved, memories are made of happy times spent together.

String together a bunch of glass baubles on a ribbon. A budget way of decoration that is stunning and creative . Spray paint bottles get some flowers and you have your pretty Christmas setting. Perfect for small places and empty wall. Christmas decoration so unique.

Do you have a bunch of baubles lying around. How about this stunning yet simple decoration for the dining room. No need to get a special chandelier when you can have such a lovely decoration. Christmas is so much fun when you have your little creative projects to show off. Pretty and simple!

Another beautiful idea for pretty Christmas decoration. Decorate your staircase with goodies in coffee mugs, more colorful more the fun :) Tie them up with cute ribbons. Perfect!

Beautiful wreath made with pinecones and black baubles. Such a statement wherever you decorate it.The huge size and different color scheme is what makes it so unique and impressive.

How pretty does this corner look? Hanging stocking on a branch, a great decoration idea for apartments and smaller places. These look adorable and love the little details in it. My fav :)

I love how cozy and festive this look is. The setting is just perfect for the holidays. The ornaments handing from the stairs to the glass baubles with tea lights. Make your own with bell jars and bottles, get creative.

I have already put up a few posts and will be doing a few more. Get the most while decorating this Christmas, get creative and crafty and there will be more ideas to inspire you right here.

Weekend Project

shelves2

So… we got back from our week-long excursion at 11:30 p.m. Friday night.  As my husband and I were sitting with our morning coffee at 8:00 the next morning, we talked of the various house projects in the line-up.  30 minutes later, he had the air compressor and nail gun going.  I think it’s an addiction, this hobby of ours.

shelves6

The old kitchen (above) had a cupboard built into the backsplash to the left of the sink.  See?  It was extremely impractical.  Being 5‘3”, my little arms can only stretch so far.  We always thought a shelf under our lower cabinets could come in handy, but the cupboard and it’s doors prohibited us from building one.
  shelves7

So this weekend, we covered up the glorified hole, and built the shelf we always wanted.  Using leftover wood, the project was free!

shelves5

My husband built the brackets, so they are one of a kind.  Like him.  ;)

shelves3
The antique salt and pepper shakers belonged to my grandma.  I adore them.

shelves8

They were passed down to my mom, and then on to me.  I don’t think I’ll ever let them go - until death do us part.  Sorry girls.

shelves9

I wanted the shelf to be utilitarian, stacked with things we use multiple times a day.

shelves4

Practical…

but pretty too.

Getting Our Tree

Are you ready to get back on schedule?

I’m not…ha ha!

I have been really enjoying this little break and having my husband home.

I told you here that we were going to put our tree up on Saturday.  We started putting it together when my husband decided that he wanted a real tree.  We never had a real tree before and we all got excited, took down the tree and left right away and drove to a local farm to find our perfect tree! :)

The kids were soooo excited!

2010 11 27_0845

They seriously had a blast!!!

2010 11 27_0847

Finding a tree was way harder than I imagined but we I finally found it.

2010 11 27_0852

They all loved the wagon!

2010 11 27_0861   Here is our tree!!!!

Here is Scott pulling our tree in with Grace chasing behind.

After that, we walked around the cute shop.

2010 11 27_0900

Cute place, huh?

  2010 11 27_0902

We ate homemade doughnuts, spiced apple cider and hot chocolate…..Yummmmy!

2010 11 27_0923

Now the kids are really excited for Christmas!

2010 11 27_0928

We have to finish the tree first.

2010 11 27_0931

We started the lights today but our old lights only made in up half the tree.  (Our new one is 8 1/2 feet.) So I had to go out and find new ones today and every store seemed to be out of the ones that I wanted…URGH!  I finally found some at ACE.  Anyway, be the time we finished that ordeal we had to eat dinner, finish the lights and bed, so I will add the ornaments tomorrow after school.

I will show you after that.  Grace is unbelievably excited to help me this year which makes to even more fun for me!

How was your weekend?

Do you get real trees?

Have a great weekend!
