Free Family Night

Happy Monday!!! How was your weekend? What did you do? I would love to share an easy and free night we had with you. We are always trying to do fun, family activities and when they are free, they are that much better!

I really wanted to go out for dinner but I didn't feel like being inside with such a beautiful fall evening plus we are trying to cut corners where we can so I decided to bring an easy dinner to the park and have a picnic there.

We quickly cooked up some Trader Joe frozen pizzas and made our own organic popcorn. We grabbed some blankets and water bottles too and went on our way!

We had an amazing time eating and playing outside as a family!! It turned out to be a big hit with the kids too! We played tag and went for a walk after eating.

How I Decorate with Nature

I have told you all about my obsession with white, silver and glitter this year but I also love good, old fashioned nature!

I love using natural materials mixed with silver, glass, etc.

Here I used different kinds of sticks in a silver vase (that I spray painted silver a while ago) and I threw in a turkey feather that my husband found in the woods.  Next to that, I just placed some pinecones in a glass vase.  That’s all FREE and great all winter long.  I was able to use silver, glass and nature altogether and I love it.  I really like mixing!  You can group together all of your favorites things…you cannot go wrong with items you LOVE!

 

Here I used pinecones in a glass vase again.  I just love doing that!

I also LOVE acorns in glass.  (These are the same acorns from my fall tablescape.)

I also used cinnamon sticks (from my fall tablescape) and placed them in another glass vase.

Here is a cinnamon broom that my husband surprised my with from Trader Joes.  This thing smells AWESOME!

Here I added some acorns and a couple branches from our tree to a candle holder.

I like the nature look!

More pinecones!

Can you guess what is next…pinecones in a glass vase, lol!

I added that to the bathroom.  It is simple and nice looking!  And…EASY and FREE!!!!

LOL, here are some more!  This is seriously the easiest thing EVER!

Last thing,  I added a real wreath to our front door.  I did not buy this, again, my husband surprised my with it from Trader Joes. 

So that is how I decorated with nature.  I love mixing things I LOVE.

How I Use What I Have

This year, I decided NOT to buy any new Christmas decorations…not even from the Goodwill or Dollar Store!

I bought a lot over the summer from garage sales so I didn’t want to spend ANY MORE MONEY!

So, I went “shopping” in my basement.

I found these Pottery Barn candlesticks that I bought from a garage sale this year.  I wanted to paint them black but I had a new idea instead.

I also found my old, gold ornaments.

I found this can of spray paint in my garage and got to work.

Am I  craziest person in the world?  I was spray painting in 20 degree weather. 

The candlesticks turned out great!

They were exactly how I imagined.

I will show you the whole tablescape soon!

I also loved how the ornaments turned out.

I wanted to fill a glass bowl for a centerpiece!

THIS WAS ALL FREE!!!!! 

BOOYAH!

Can’t beat this!

My New Family Room Makeover

Do you remember when I re-did my family room a couple of months ago HERE.  Well, I changed it again, lol!  I didn’t change anything major, just lamps, wall hangings, pillows,  tables and rocker.

Here is the BEFORE.  I actually really liked it, but I got all of the new stuff from my MIL (read more about it HERE) so I used the new stuff and now I LOVE it!

Here is the AFTER.  If you scroll up and down real fast, you can see the difference.  I got new mirrors, pillows, ottomans, end tables and a rocking chair.
